I think of myself as a spiritual person, connected to the ethereal in some way. I try to find a deeper meaning to ideas and see things from a different points of view. You might say that I'm just like every other human throughout all of existence – asking the eternal questions, who am I, what am I, why am I?

Edgar Allen Poe wrote "all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream." I ask myself the same question wondering, what happens when the dream ends? Did it mean something, this... whatever it is? Do we go someplace when it's over? Is there really something beyond this moment? I'm looking for my particular deeper meaning…. trying to find the yin and yang of life, and some meaning that comes with it. My work, especially, the work that I feel a deep connection with, tries to convey this balance, the tug and pull of dark and light, yin and yang, life and death, dreams and reality.

I strive to be like Leonardo, the original Renaissance man. Asking questions not only from an artist’s point of view, but from a mathematical and scientific point of view as well. While I'm deeply moved by the spiritual paintings of that era, I also love the modern concepts that focus on the person such as romanticism, abstraction, impressionism and surrealism. Much of the Renaissance focused on the humanities connection with the spiritual, while the modern styles focus more on the human experience and how we perceive our world. My art addresses the questions I'm trying to answer for myself.  “Am I a being of ethereal existence? Am I a being of reality, or this a dream we all share? Does it mean something, or is it all just happenstance?” I try to answer these questions by looking at the spiritual as well as the human experience, then finding some place where the two things meet.
